UPDATE SEPTEMBER 29, 2022: Morgan State University student Chase Marco Wilson, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Morgan State Security Officer Julian Fruh, reports CBS News.
At the time of his death, the officer had marijuana and a scale with possible marijuana residue on it. Charging documents said Fruh had purchased marijuana from a Morgan State student. A witness told police that he was talking and texting with Wilson before he was shot.

Baltimore, Maryland – A Morgan State University security officer was fatally shot on Wednesday near an off-campus apartment building.
The contract security officer, who worked for Allied Universal, has been identified as 19-year-old Julian Fruh, reports Fox Baltimore. He was shot in the head.
The attack happened at about 9 p.m. at the Marble Hall Garden Apartment Complex, where many Morgan State University students live.
He had just started working as a security officer, and this was his first job after graduating from high school, reports CBS News. The Baltimore Sun reports Fruh was assigned to work at the apartment complex when the shooting happened. He may have been on a break when he was fatally shot.
Allied Universal provides supplemental private security to Morgan State.
In response to the shooting, Allied Universal issued the following statement:
“Everyone at Allied Universal is saddened and absolutely devastated to learn a valued member of our team lost his life last night after being shot. Local Allied Universal leadership has reached out to the victim’s family to offer our condolences and financial support. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we respectfully request any other inquiries be directed to the Baltimore Police Department.”
The tragedy has prompted Morgan State to dispatch more police officers to the apartment complex where the shooting happened, reports WMAR2. They will be partnered with private security officers to ensure student safety.
The university is also providing counseling to students affected by the attack, reports ABC17.
