A man believed to be heading to a Missouri school to shoot a 5-year-old girl was shot by state police Thursday afternoon. The man, who wasn’t identified, reportedly received a letter saying he was being charged in a sexual abuse case.
Franklin County officials received a call that the man was headed to Lonedell School in Washington County, Mo., according to Fox 2 News. The school was placed on lockdown and secured by deputies, while the search of the area went on for the suspect.
After police received a call that the suspect was headed home, a SWAT team was sent to the scene. The man was then located on his back porch by a trooper, who shot him after the suspect fired on him. The trooper administered first aid to the suspect, who was reported to be in critical condition Thursday. The suspect’s name wasn’t released.
