CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities from Camden County are warning the community about a fatal, but legal, substance that is marketed to adolescents as LSD.
The discovery results from a growing trend within the past two weeks where deputies have investigated three juvenile overdoses. The overdoses were believed to be caused by LSD; however, after more inspection, officials determined the source was Harmala alkaloid.
When taken in high dosages, the drug, which is found in certain plants, can cause a hallucinogenic effect.
Authorities are asking parents and administrators to be aware of the drug, which is being used in its clear, liquid form. It is being dispensed through eye dropper bottles.
