ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis County Health Department believes several students at Normandy Senior High School may have been exposed to the HIV virus, according to Fox News.
Officials said information developed that a person infected with the virus had sexual contact with several students at the high school and potentially exposed them to the virus. The name of the infected person has not been released due to privacy issues.
Letters were sent out to parents Oct. 13 explaining the situation and encouraging parents to speak to their students about whether or not they might be at risk. On Oct. 15, as many as 50 concerned parents attended a meeting to discuss the issue. Some parents are contemplating pulling their children out of the district.
The health department will offer free HIV testing to students at the end of October.
