Missing Brain Surgery Patient Found 6 Miles From Hospital
DALLAS — A missing patient was discovered 13 hours after leaving Parkland Hospital where he had undergone brain surgery. The man’s family now says they will sue the hospital.
Jose Manuel Calleros-Avila walked out of the hospital wearing the street clothes he had been re-learning to put on as part of his physical therapy, KHOU reports. As he left his hospital room, alarm bands on his arms and legs started sounding. However, he was able to exit the building before someone could detain him.
Calleros-Avila, who has been suffering from amnesia since his brain injury, was found six miles away from the hospital inside a Mexican food restaurant.
