GREENWOOD, Miss. — To provide more protection for its six schools, the Leflore County School Board has created a campus police department.
The district, which currently has one school resource officer monitoring the Leflore County High School, will apply for a grant from the Community Oriented Policing Services program to hire officers, WJTV.com reports.
The officers will have the same arrest powers as constables, according to district officials.
