Minnesota College Seeks to Increase Security After Assaults on Campus

Published: May 19, 2008

MINNEAPOLIS – Officials at the University of Minnesota are looking to increase security on campus after three women were sexually attacked in less than three weeks.

Years ago, the school planned to increase security in the dormitories; however, because of complaints, school officials cancelled implementing new security measures. Now officials are discussing adding check-in desks in the residence halls that would be staffed 24 hours a day.

Officials are also looking into locking all restrooms, where students would have to request keys. Men would receive keys only for the men’s restrooms and women would receive keys for the ladies’ rooms.
