A Minnesota hospital is upgrading its video surveillance system to improve security after a board meeting July 27.
Swift County-Benson Hospital is upgrading its interior surveillance cameras and buying a new outdoor surveillance system for $17,336 according to swiftcountymonitor.com.
The upgrade, which was unanimously approved by the hospital’s board, will cover all four sides of the hospital building as well as the Affiliated Community Medical Centers.
There will be 16 cameras placed around the exterior of the building, each with a 180 degree view. CEO Kurt Waldbillig says the Benson Police Department will now be able to remotely access the surveillance system.
The system will also be taken off of the hospital’s computer network to deter hackers from gaining access to medical records.
