Mich. Hospital, Sheriff’s Office Reach Security Agreement

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Chippewa County Sheriff Deputies will safeguard War Memorial Hospital under an agreement signed Friday by hospital CEO David Jahn and Sheriff Robert Savoie.

Three part-time deputies from the sheriff’s department will provide assistance within the facility and also patrol the parking lot and parking garage, the Sault Ste. Marie Evening News reports. One deputy will be assigned to the hospital daily.

War Memorial Hospital will cover all of the costs associated with the deputies, said Savoie.
