The Lansing School District settled two lawsuits with former students who were sexually assaulted for a total of $405,000.
The students say they were sexually assaulted on the property of Eastern High School, reports the Lansing State Journal.
The school’s video surveillance cameras captured one of the victims being assaulted in October 2015 in a stairwell. That student, who was 14 at the time, was awarded $180,000 in March. The other student in that incident pleaded guilty to one count of indecent exposure last year.

The other victim’s lawsuit was settled for $225,000 this week. That former student was raped by a classmate behind a maintenance building on campus in September 2014. The attacker in that incident, Edward Jackson, was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison in 2015.
“The matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties,” Lansing School District Spokesperson Bob Kolt said. “It would be inappropriate to answer any questions in detail. The court approval is an action that speaks for itself.”
The district had previously denied all wrongdoing in the cases.
Both students were represented by Karen Truszkowski.
