MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Menomonie School District is upgrading security at three of its schools.
The district, which is currently in the midst of a $36 million referendum renovation, plans to add new and more secure entrances at River Heights Elementary and Downsville Elementary, WEAU.com reports.
Currently, parents and visitors that are buzzed in at the schools can bypass the school office. However, the new entrance would automatically direct visitors to the administration office before they are allowed access to the campus grounds.
Menomonie High School will also receive a secure entrance and an upgraded security camera system. The district plans to add video surveillance to areas that have not been covered by the current system.
Administrators will be allowed to watch all areas of the building on their desktops.
Menomonie School District expects the security enhancements at the elementary schools to be completed by late summer 2014. The upgrades at the high school should be finished by summer 2015.
