Meet the K-12 Security Experts Presenting at the Campus Safety Conference in Chicago

The Campus Safety conference in Chicago will be split up into three tracks designed to serve the needs of security professionals in different fields: K-12, higher education and hospitals.

The Campus Safety conference being held July 13-14 in Chicago, Ill., is a can’t-miss educational event for security officers, emergency management personnel and administrators responsible for the protection of hospitals and schools. Topics covered will include establishing bomb threat protocols, preparing for active shooters, psychological first aid and much more.

Here’s the educational line up for the conference’s K-12 track:

  • CEO and President of Safeguard Risk Solutions Gary L. Sigrist Jr. will cover measures schools can take to reduce bomb threats, ways to develop relationships with area First Responders and procedures for schools once they receive a bomb threat.
  • Director of Transportation and School Safety for the Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County Stephen Satterly will discuss ways to train school and hospital populations to think tactically by examining the characteristics of each population and the training methods for the U.S. military and law enforcement.
  • Senior Director of FEI Behavioral Health Vivian Marinelli will teach specific guidelines for providing psychological first aid to victims of a crisis and cover the challenges and opportunities other universities have encountered in past experiences.
  • Assistant Vice President for Safety and Chief of Police of Florida State University David Perry will discuss lessons learned from the Florida State library shooting in 2014 and the importance of partnerships, planning, compliance and resources for emergency situations.
  • Crisis Response Team Leader at Clark County School District Roy Anderson will explain the need to address human behavior during a crisis, explain the importance of creating leaders out of your staff members and teach response drills to empower your staff.
  • SSI Guardian LLC Presdient Michael Yorio, Certified Executive Instructor Rocco Delmonaco Jr., Instructor J. Kelly Stewart and Guardian Instructor Todd Evans will explain how to plan for an active shooter incident using emergency operations planning and discuss the benefit of a comprehensive approach.
  • Executive Director of NSCA Chuck Wilson, Director of Innovation and National Accounts of All Systems Scott Lord and CEO of Risk Response Team LLC Jim Crumbley will define threats common at schools, detail a layered approach to security that combats typical threats and mitigates risks and provide tiered measures that administrators can implement without significant funding.
