BURLINGTON, N. C. — Alamance Regional Medical Center faced the possible loss of its Medicare and Medicaid funding after the Division of Health Service Regulation found that nursing staff failed to monitor psychiatric patients, hospital conditions were not safe and supervisors failed to oversee nursing staff.
Many of these issues have been corrected since state regulators surveyed the hospital when a rape in a patient’s room was reported in February, the Times-News reports. As of last week, the hospital is no longer at risk of losing funding.
Since the investigation, additional surveillance cameras have been installed and a security officer is assigned to monitor them 24 hours a day. There is also a security officer assigned to the behavioral medical unit, where the alleged rape took place.
