There are more elderly patients being treated at hospitals and long-term care facilities than ever before. With this trend comes the increased need to address the safety and security challenges associated with these individuals.
At the Campus Security 100 Summit held in Tucson, Ariz., Feb. 16-18, Campus Safety magazine spoke with Martin Green about this issue. Green is the president-elect for the International Association for Security & Safety (IAHSS) as well as the manager of security, communications and emergency preparedness at Baycrest health Sciences in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In this interview, Green discusses the issues associated with providing a safe and secure environment for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other complex medical challenges associated with aging.
He will be presenting on this topic at the IAHSS annual conference this May.
