A man with a hatchet was found going through patient documents at a Seattle hospital dressed as a hospital employee Oct. 28.
Dominick Allen, 46, was detained by a security officer at Virginia Mason Medical Center and found to have patient records and cards on him after his arrest. Police believe Allen stole the information to commit identity theft and other fraud, according to CBS News.
A Virginia Mason engineer alerted hospital security officers after he discovered an open security drawer with papers scattered on the floor early in the morning of Oct. 28.

When an officer approached Allen as he was rifling through patient documents, Allen punched the officer in the face. During the ensuing struggle, Allen reportedly threatened the officer and claimed other men were inside the medical center “armed with guns.”
Allen was eventually detained and found to have a rusty hatchet, a four-inch knife and patient information.
Allen has eight former convictions, including forgery charges.
