Man Uses Stethoscope in Attempt to Strangle Doctor

BANGOR, Maine — A man who attempted to strangle a doctor with a stethoscope while being treated at Eastern Maine Medical Central has been charged with felony assault.  

Robert Commeau became agitated during an examination in the hospital’s emergency room, Bangor Daily News reports. After trying to wrap the examining doctor’s stethoscope around his neck, Commeau shoved a hospital security guard.

If convicted, Commeau could spend up to five years in prison and pay a fine of $5,000.
