ST. GEORGE, Utah — A 54-year-man faces fraud charges for impersonating ’70s rock stars to avoid paying his medical bills at Dixie Regional Medical Center.
Phillip Michael Schaeffer received medical treatment three different times at the facility between 2010 and 2013, KWCH.com reports.
During one of his visits, he racked up $23,328.27 in medical bills under the name Alex Lifeson, guitarist from the Canadian band Rush. The other times, Schaeffer pretended to be David Gilmour, guitarist and singer for Pink Floyd and accrued a $15,000 bill.
Schaeffer attempted a similar scam at St. Cloud Hospital, where he claimed to be Gilmour to avoid paying a $100,000 bill last April.
Schaeffer has been charged with two counts of communication fraud.
