BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A 40-year-old man died after struggling with a security guard Dec. 15.
After suspecting Larry Armstead of theft on Dec. 14, a security guard at St. Vincent’s Hospital pursued him. A struggle ensued when the guard caught up with Armstead several blocks away from the hospital site around 3:10 p.m., authorities said.
Armstead was taken to St. Vincent’s for treatment after he became unresponsive in the struggle. He was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 15.
Authorities are still investigating the manner and cause of his death.
