Maine Hospitals Upgrade Security

BANGOR, Maine — In an effort to keep patients safe and cut down on the number of calls to the Bangor Police Department, hospitals here have implemented new security measures.

Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) has added a metal detector, security guards and a nightly Bangor police officer to monitor the emergency room, WLBZ2.com reports.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph’s Hospital has added police officers equipped with Tasers to monitor the facility. Acadia Hospital has also hired an on-duty officer.
