Linebacker Suspended from Temple U For Rape Accusation

PHILADELPHIA — A linebacker at Temple University was accused of raping a 21-year-old woman in a dormitory last week. He allegedly sent her a text message after the crime that asked: “Are you going to press charges?”

Praise Martin-Oguike was suspended from the football team and the school until the charges against him are adjudicated, The Star-Ledger reports. He was charged with rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. The alleged incident occurred May 26 in his dorm room.

Martin-Oguike claims he only rejected the woman’s demands for a permanent relationship and that the accusations are baseless, according to his lawyer.
