Liberty U. Officer Shoots, Kills Student in Dorm

UPDATE Nov. 20: Police have identified the suspect as Joshua Hathaway, 19, reports the Associated Press.

LYNCHBURG, Va.—Liberty University is reporting that one of its emergency services officers was attacked by a male student in the lobby of a women’s-only dorm early this morning.

The Liberty student was shot and killed by the officer, and the officer was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating the matter, and Liberty University is cooperating, claims the school in a statement. 

The student who was killed has not been identified, pending notification of his family.

The entire campus is open and operating as normal.
