Legislative Alert Issued by IACLEA, Campuses Urged to Act Now

ST. PETER, Minn. – Ray Thrower, president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) has issued the following legislative alert for colleges and universities:

“This Thursday, July 26, the Senate Judiciary Committee will consider the most significant legislation ever proposed in Congress for campus public safety. A few of the highlights are:

  • Parity in federal death benefits for sworn officers on public and private campuses; and
  • Establishment of a National Center for Campus Public Safety, including training funds
  • A $50 million matching grant program for institutions of higher education to enhance campus public safety
