To mark the 10-year anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting, Campus Safety magazine announces it is now conducting a survey on the state of K-12 school and college security. All individuals who are involved in elementary school and higher education campus safety are encouraged to participate. The survey closes Feb. 5.
The Columbine High School shooting occurred April 20, 1999 when two Colorado students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, shot and killed 12 classmates and a teacher. Twenty-three others were injured, and the gunmen committed suicide.
“Although it’s hard to believe it has been nearly a decade since this tragedy, it is important for all of us in the campus protection field to review the changes we’ve implemented in making elementary schools and colleges more secure,” says Robin Hattersley Gray, executive editor of Campus Safety magazine. “The results of this survey will show what has improved, as well as the challenges we still face.”
The poll will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. All answers and identifying information will remain confidential and will only be used in tabulation with other responses. The results of this poll will appear in the March/April 2009 issue of Campus Safety magazine.
The survey will be open to campus protection professionals until Feb. 5. To complete the online poll, please visit www.campussafetymagazine.com/Columbine.
