LASPD Partners to Provide Clothing, Supplies For Needy Students

LOS ANGELES – The Operation School Bell (OSB) On Wheels and the Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) Police Activities League (PAL) announce they will be hosting a joint activity to provide clothing and school supplies to underprivileged children/students from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

On Feb.23, six LAUSD schools will be bringing children/students who do not have basic clothing and school supplies to the LASPD headquarters to “shop” for free from a fully stocked 53-foot trailer that has been converted into a traveling store.

The Target Corp. donated this trailer, which has the capacity to travel to various school locations and clothe up to 150 children in five hours. Each child receives a toiletry kit, a book, a toy, a backpack, new shoes, underwear, socks, T-shirts and a week’s supply of school uniforms and clothes. Each child is given the opportunity to choose or “shop” from a selection of the items donated, empowering them to make decisions for themselves.
