Langston University Adds Security After Campus Shooting

LANGSTON, Okla.
Published: September 27, 2009

Langston University is working to keep unsolicited visitors off campus by implementing 24-hour checkpoints at the university’s two main entrances.

The checkpoints, which will be under video surveillance, are part of a campus-wide effort to improve security after four people were shot during a Langston University welcome back party Aug. 16. All visitors entering the campus will be required to show proper identification. Their vehicles will also be subject to search.

Future security upgrades may include emergency call boxes around campus as well as upgraded security at the university apartments, according to KSBI News.
