The director of public safety at a small college in Kentucky was arrested Jan. 27 by police for possessing child porn.

Robert Marshall, 52, was charged with possessing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor after police completed an investigation that began roughly two years ago, according to wcpo.com.

Marshall had been the director of public safety at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills since 2003. He was placed on administrative leave and replaced earlier in the school year.

The Covington Police Department’s investigation took so long because Marshall had initiated an image-wiping software on his computer, possibly to erase incriminating material.

“Any time that data is wiped from a hard drive, it is increasingly more difficult to retrieve that data, and we had to send it off to be forensically examined and retrieved,” according to Covington Police Lieutenant Colonel Brian Steffen.

Marshall’s bond has been set at $25,000.
