STRATHAM, N.H. — Four families have filed a complaint with the New Hampshire Department of Education alleging that their children were kicked out of The Cornerstone School as retaliation for the parents’ criticisms of the school’s handling of bullying reports.
The parents signed a letter that was read to the school’s board of directors in February that said Cornerstone Head of School Lee Anne Robertson did not address bullying at the school, among other criticisms, SeaCoastOnline.com reports. Robertson informed the families in a letter in March that their children would not be allowed to return to the school in September because “These concerns have become a distraction to our daily operations and impede my ability to provide for the daily and future educational needs of our students.”
One of the children who is not allowed to return was a student in Robertson’s class who was reportedly hit and pushed by another student. The complaint states that despite numerous reports of the bullying to Robertson, she failed to put a stop to the violence.
