Johns Hopkins University to Change Guard Service Companies

BALTIMORE, Effective Jan. 1, Allied-Barton Security Services will replace Broadway Services Inc. Silver Star Security as the security company for the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University.

According to campus officials, Silver Star did not have a contract with the university. Instead, its employment was part of the short-term response to a murder that occurred earlier this year in January.

A representative from the school’s campus safety and security department also said the cost of the change will be no more than what Johns Hopkins currently spends on Silver Star.

The 250 Silver Star employees currently assigned to Hopkins will remain with Silver Star but receive different assignments when Allied-Barton takes over.
