Indiana College Group Seeks to Carry Concealed Weapons on Campus

MUNCIE, Ind. – A small group of students at Ball State University believe that people who are licensed to carry concealed weapons should be allowed to carry them on campus to protect themselves by chance an attack occurs.

The group, Ball State Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, is comprised of 10 people who are licensed to carry guns. The group is a local branch of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, which urges state legislatures and school administrators to allow concealed handguns on campus for individuals who are licensed holders.

At this time, the university prohibits any weapon from being on campus.

The group was started as a result of the April 16, 2007 mass shooting at Virginia Tech, where Cho Seung-Hui fatally shot 32 people before killing himself.
