Prosecutor: Increase in Girl Fight Videos Could Be Linked to Reality TV

Violence among girls is increasingly being caught on video, a trend that some blame on teen violence associated with reality television. Recently, Jenelle Evans, 19, of the television program “Teen Mom 2” was arrested after a video of a brawl between her and another girl went viral on the Internet.

Prosecutor Wendy Murphy believes that children perceive reality television differently than adults; what might be horrifying to older audiences could be accepted as normal behavior by younger viewers, Today reports. 

Psychiatrist Dr. Janet Taylor told the news source that the lack of consequences shown on reality television programs could have an influence on the increase in teen violence.
