ST. ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Officials at Augustana College are considering creating an armed campus police force to provide more protection for students.
The college currently utilizes safety officers who do not have police powers or weapons. Now, administrators are considering having a three-person armed police force, WHBF.com reports.
Some students are concerned that armed officers on campus may lead to more violence on campus.
The board of trustees will vote on the issue at the end of the month.
