ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Two former students of a Massachusetts high school used poor judgement when discussing a Columbine-style attack on Facebook and never intended to carry out the plan, the mother of one told the Boston Herald.

Students at Attleboro High tipped off Attleboro authorities on Monday about the graphic chat between Natick Sands, 18, and Ryan Ringuette,  20.

Sands’ mother, Leighanne Coriaty, told the Herald the men were two “idiots having a conversation,” and that her son was merely blowing off steam after a fight with a girlfriend.

In a Facebook chat Monday about a possible attack, Sands allegedly said he’d like to “take the first shots,” picking out the school’s resource officer and “the front desk” as targets. Ringuette countered,  saying it’s “columbine ove (sic) again” and telling Sands to remember to “lock all the doors,” police said.
