House Passes Violence Against Women Act

After a long political fight, the U.S. House of Representatives has reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act that expands protections for same-sex couples.

The measure was approved on Thursday, with 138 conservatives opposing it, reports the Washington Post. The bill will now be sent to President Obama, who is expected to sign it.
