LADNER, British Columbia — Delta Hospital tightened security after an Alzheimer’s patient temporarily went missing March 26.
William McKinlay, 81, had gone missing once before on Feb. 26, South Delta Leader reports. He was given a wristband that would trigger an audible alarm if he exited the hospital, but it had been removed.
Now, proximity alarm bracelets will be better covered up so they will not be a visual distraction to patients. Also, staff will perform more frequent checks on wards.
