TORONTO, ON — St. Michael’s hospital has settled with an aboriginal couple allegedly beaten and traumatized by the facility’s security guards two years ago.
Cliff Hussin and Donna Oakes sued the hospital for $2.1 million, but the actual settlement amount was not disclosed due to a confidentiality clause, The Star reports. Hussin claimed he suffered three broken ribs and a punctured lung after he was dragged down a flight of stairs by his ponytail and thrown outside into sub-zero weather.
The two security guards held responsible were fired but never charged with a crime.
