HENRY COUNTY, Ind. —A security officer at Henry County Hospital has been charged with one count of sexual battery for assaulting a female patient after agreeing to drive her home.
The 24-year-old victim was being treated in the hospital’s emergency room on April 4 when she asked Hugh “Andy” Wilson, 44, for a ride home, reports TheStarPress.com. Hospital officials said it is not uncommon for patients to ask for a ride home.
However, the victim claims Wilson grabbed, fondled and kissed her, which the suspect initially denied. However, Wilson finally admitted to grabbing the woman in her crotch after agreeing to take a polygraph test, which he failed, according to WISHTV.com.
Additionally, police discovered that after the incident, Wilson texted the woman’s cell phone, asking, “Do you want to get together?”
If convicted, Wilson faces up to eight years in jail. The sexual battery charge was elevated to a class C felony because the guard, who also worked part-time for the sheriff’s department, was carrying his weapon at the time of the incident.
For his part, Wilson said the incident was not a criminal matter, but was a moral deficiency.
