Hospital Implements High Tech Infant Security System

BANNING, Calif. — San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital has implementing a new state-of-the-art infant monitoring system to prevent infant abductions.

The “Safe Place” infant security system from RF Technologies uses soft bands placed on the baby’s ankle right after birth to track the baby’s movements, The Press-Enterprise reports. The system has alarm sensors around the maternity ward and greater tracking capabilities than the hospital’s previous system; a small transmitter detects changes in the infant’s movement and cut or removed bands.

The system was installed in the hospital on July 26.
