ALLEN, Texas – Allen High School officials have decided to close their new $60 million football stadium after consultants discovered structural problems with the facility.
In February, cracks became visible on the concourse of Eagle Stadium, reports the Los Angeles Times. The school then hired a group of consultants who identified design issues that put the stadium in violation of building codes.
Structural engineers will complete their study of the stadium in June, which will provide a complete overview of the damage.
The stadium opened in August of 2012 and has 18,000 seats.
