Nearly 600,000 doses of nasal spray flu vaccinations are expected to be shipped across the U.S. this week. The first batch of FluMist spray will be delivered to 21 states and four large cities.
According to indystar.com, the vaccinations will first go to health care workers and emergency responders. However, states such as Alaska plan to administer 4,000 doses to its preschoolers. Other states such as Pennsylvania are targeting those most effected by H1N1 – 5- to 9-year olds.
While the first round is not meant for mass vaccination, smaller shipments of the nasal spray will still be distributed once available.
