Citizens: Trinity Officials Wrongly Blamed Neighborhood for Assault

HARTFORD, Conn. – Police now believe the vicious March 4 assault of a Trinity College student might have been committed by fellow students and not residents of the surrounding neighborhood.

Originally, school officials said the attackers were not Trinity students. This led many to believe the assailants were from the neighborhoods adjacent to the campus, reports Boston.com. Hartford leaders say residents of these poor and ethnically diverse communities believe they were unfairly blamed for the attack. Some activists are demanding an apology from Trinity College officials.

The assault occurred in March on the edge of campus and resulted in the victim being hospitalized with a broken jaw and cheekbone.
