GLENWOOD, Colo. – Hackers have compromised the personal information of nearly 5,500 Valley View Hospital patients.
Hospital officials discovered a computer virus on some of its devices in January, Aspen Daily News reports. Personal information likely affected includes individual names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers, Social Security numbers, credit card information and more.
It is unclear whether any encrypted data was accessed by or transmitted to an outside entity. However, the hospital are notifying patients and offering protection services for those potentially affected.
Valley View Hospital has also upgraded security capabilities to reduce future risks of invasive computer viruses.
