STANLEY, Wis. — Stanley-Boyd School District officials are examining payroll security procedures after hackers swiped $150,000 last week.
The funds were allocated as pay for teachers and staff. However, authorities discovered that the money was wiped out during the digital transfers between the district, the bank and employee bank accounts, LaCrosseTribune.com reports.
The incident has sparked neighboring school districts to question their financial institutions to determine if they need stronger security.
