Staff members at the George Washington (GW) Hospital Center are preparing for security cordons and large crowds this weekend during President-Elect Obama’s Inauguration.
The hospital sits along the security perimeter where National Guardsmen will staff checkpoints. Due to traffic stops and expected traffic conditions, ambulance calls may be redirected to other neighboring hospitals.
However, GW Emergency department will remain open and available for both major emergencies and less serious illnesses during the Inauguration weekend. The hospital will be fully staffed on Inauguration Day.
In preparation for large crowds, George Washington University (GWU) is issuing special identification to registered guests, according to ABC 7 News. The university is bringing in extra security just to be prepared.
