A prisoner being treated at Hamilton General Hospital escaped on Nov. 24 after two armed men held up the jail guards.

The unarmed security officers were escorting Fawad Nouri, 25, from the north-Hamilton hospital when they were jumped by the attackers. The gunmen then allegedly stole the jail van and fled the hospital parking lot.

Nouri was in jail on robbery charges and firearms offences for allegedly shooting at police officers in January. He was being treated at the hospital for a bullet wound he sustained during the alleged robbery.

According to ctv.ca, footage from hospital security cameras show the two gunman who helped Nouri escape wore dark-blue hooded jackets and surgical masks.
