Gunman Arrested on Univ. of Florida Campus

Shots were fired after a fight between two males near a University of Florida dorm.

Gainesville, Fla., police have arrested a man they say fired shot on the campus of the University of Florida.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday near the Murphree Hall dormitory. After a night at a local bar, two men got into a fight outside of the dorm, reports MyFoxOrlando.com. One of the suspects then pulled a gun from his girlfriend’s purse and fired a shot. He then dropped the gun and ran away, but police were able to arrest him a short time later.

His girlfriend was also arrested for carrying a firearm on the campus.

No one appears to have been injured, and none of the individuals involved were associated with the school. Alerts were issued on the school’s Twitter account.
