Gunman Commits Suicide After 8-Hour Standoff at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – An armed gunman in the Nittany Apartments at Penn State turned his gun on himself Oct. 22 after an eight-hour stand-off with police.

Qwynton Armstead, 24, was identified as the suspect by the coroner and was in town visiting his sister. According to reports, the incident occurred after an altercation at a local bar.

After campus police arrived at the scene, students were evacuated from five buildings in the area. The school has set up counseling services for those affected by the incident.
