An Arizona State University (ASU) graduate student fatally shot himself in front of his professor on Oct. 26.
According to kgun.com, the student was talking with the faculty member before he pulled out a gun. He then shot himself once. The incident occurred in the architecture Design South Building on ASU’s main campus in Tempe, Ariz.
ASU Police Cmdr. James Hardina says the student had battled depression most of his life and was on track to graduate, according to the Arizona Republic.
The news source says that several minutes after the shot was fired, police ordered everyone out of the building. Classes were cancelled for the remainder of the day.
ASU officials are offering counseling services on campus.
