Get Ready for Homegrown Terrorists

Federal officials now say homegrown threats are one of the nation’s top national security priorities.

The move follows last year’s Fort Hood shootings, as well as the failed Christmas Eve plane bombing and this month’s Times Square bombing. It may have also been prompted by a non-classified internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report, which was obtained by ABC News.

No longer are al Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban limiting their activities to the Eastern hemisphere and Middle East. The report says “operatives are in the country and could advance plotting with little or no warning.” It also predicts increased activity by these groups.
