George Washington U. Student Charged with Hate Crime
WASHINGTON – A student was charged with drawing swastikas and racial slurs on residence halls doors at George Washington University (GWU).
The drawings were reported on Nov. 2.
Tracy Schario, spokeswoman for GWU, stated that the suspect has been banned from the campus and is subject to the university’s judicial system. Due to privacy laws, the name of the suspect has not been released.
University officials are investigating whether the student violated any federal laws or D.C. laws.
Earlier in the semester, swastikas were drawn on other dorm rooms. An investigation is still being conducted to determine who vandalized the property. It is unclear if the incidents are related to each other.
