CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. — Clarke County School District will vote Thursday on whether to spend $834,000 to upgrade school security.
If approved, the district would use the money to install an emergency radio communication system, digital video cameras in school buses and video surveillance cameras on all campuses. Additionally, CCSD will look at technology that will allow receptionists to quickly lock security doors, Athens Banner-Herald reports.
An incident in March, where a man came into Timothy Road Elementary School to use the bathroom and then stole the principal’s wallet from her office, prompted school officials to seek security updates.
